Join us for a photography walk in Cosumnes River to capture all of its natural beauty
Overview
We'll meet at the Cosumnes River Preserve Visitor Center Parking Lot at 9:00am and leave around 12:00pm. Side excursions will include driving a short distance to Desmond Rd and Staten Island Rd.
Achieve the skills to photograph birds and other wildlife in this photo walk at Cosumnes River Preserve. On this approximately 3 mile mostly flat walk we should expect to view Sandhill Cranes, Snow Geese, shorebirds, and various ducks that utilize the Preserve that lies along the Pacific Flyway. You'll achieve the skills to successfully photograph birds in flight. We'll also walk through riparian habitat and look for early in the season migrating songbirds. After the walk, we can drive a short distance to a couple of backroads to view more cranes and geese.
What You’ll Learn:
- The proper setting for photographing birds both stationary and in flight.
- How to change the focus point in your camera to photograph birds in difficult backgrounds.
- Learn the names of and observe the behavior of the birds that are at the Preserve
- A digital camera that allows manual settings with a telephoto lens
- Tripod is not required but could be helpful
- Dress for potentially cool and or wet weather
- Don't forget extra batteries and memory cards!
