Overview
The Historical Society was established in 1976 as the Bicentennial Committee to save the Rhoads School. We later became the Elk Grove Historical Society and are an all volunteer organization, located in Elk Grove, California.
The Historical Society manages three main museums and one school, plus several other Exhibits:
- EG House & Stage Stop
- Foulks House
- San Joaquin Township Justice Court and Jail
- Many other historical items:
- Blacksmith shop and statue
- Real covered wagon
- Original bells from schools
- Old furnishings in all the buildings
- Research Library with history and artifacts
The Elk Grove Heritage Park is open for tours the first Saturday of each month from 12 noon to 4 PM and by appointment for group tours. Closed in the months of January, November, and December.
