A Blooming Experience in Elk Grove: Native Wildflower Seeding

Elk Grove will soon be painted with vibrant hues thanks to a native wildflower seeding project by the Sacramento Tree Foundation. Check out the event details, learn more about the foundation, and see where you can catch a glimpse of the flower fields in Elk Grove.

There is no doubt that wildflower fields add a level of beauty to the outdoor landscape, but did you know that restoration of native plants is crucial to preserving biodiversity in our region and restoring ecological balance? On November 21, 2023, Hedgerow Farms partnered with the Sacramento Tree Foundation and the City of Elk Grove Parks Department for a day of planting California native wildflowers along the Franklin Creek Trail in Elk Grove.

This fun, community-oriented event was powered by devoted volunteers who share a passion for maintaining native plants within the cityscape and countryside. During the event, volunteers planted rhizomes and seed native wildflowers along the Toby Johnson Bike Path. All seeds were provided by Hedgerow Farms.

This enhancement to the Franklin Creek Trail will be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. One of the City’s newer trails, this is a great spot for an outdoor run or bike ride, or a leisurely walk, as it connects many neighborhoods to the community’s amenities.

Visit the trail now for a first look to the introduction of the native wildflowers and be sure to plan your visit for the Spring to see the flowers in full bloom.

About the Sacramento Tree Foundation
