CLASS DESCRIPTION: You will practice your ability to read and portray values, one of the most important fundamentals for creating great art. There will be a lecture in the beginning to go over values and basic techniques of oil paint. We will be painting mainly in grayscale using titanium white and ivory black and possibly burnt umber for underpaintings. The subject matter will either be a human portrait or a still life study. We will focus on painting big shapes, and blocky forms, focusing on values and the big picture over tiny details.
