Running of the Elk 2026

Hit the ground running and join the herd for Elk Grove's run-tastic event.

Lace up for a day of family fitness and community support at the 15th Annual Kaiser Permanente Running of the Elk on Sunday, March 29, 2026. This family-friendly event welcomes participants of all ages to run, walk, and make a positive impact. This stroller-friendly race features a 5K, 10K, and Kids' Fun Run and directs its proceeds to the Elk Grove Youth Sports Foundation, a non-profit that ensures every child in Elk Grove has an equal opportunity to be involved in sports.

When & Where

The 15th Annual Running of the Elk is on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at District 56 (8230 Civic Center Dr, Elk Grove).

Event Registration

Sign-up for the race online on the Running of the Elk website. Prefer to run with a group? During the registration process, you'll have the option to join or create a team.

Saturday Packet Pickup

Registered runners can pick up their race packets on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Fleet Feet Elk Grove (7460 Elk Grove Blvd. Ste 120).

Kids’ Fun Runs

The Kids' Fun Run at the Running of the Elk in Elk Grove, CA, is a celebration of youthful energy and achievement! Geared towards ages 12 and younger, this non-competitive and untimed experience offers a delightful 1/4 mile dash for the younger ones (ages 6 & under) and a spirited 1/2 mile run for ages 7-12.

5K & 10K

Participate in the 5K and 10K races, where age knows no limits—from the youngest runners to the young at heart. Winners of each age group earn exclusive elk-themed awards, while overall winners in the 5K will take home special prizes.
