The Sangria Showdown is an opportunity for the community to gather and enjoy a variety of new drinks, tapas, live music, and more. This friendly competition includes professional mixologists, bartenders, and individuals with expertise in beverage preparation. Participants are encouraged to develop a creative, innovative sangria recipe, containing a wine base, variety of fruits and juices, and other unique ingredients. The sangria will be judged in a blind-taste test, based on taste, creativity, and overall appeal. Current competitors include Adkins Family Vineyards, Christopher Cellars, Fujiya Japanese Restaurant, McConnell Estates Winery, Pig Latin, Sky River Casino, South Slope Wines, and Wolfe Heights Estates & Winery.
Sangria will be served at the Sangria Showdown, as well as Uncorked & Uncapped 2023 on September 22 in Main Street: Historic Elk Grove. The winner will be announced at Uncorked & Uncapped and awarded the first-ever competition trophy. This competition will bring a fun, new offering to the wine and beer drinkers of Elk Grove.
