Encaustic 101 with Linda Nunes

Workshop Fee: $190
Students will gain basic knowledge and hands-on skills with this ancient, unique and luminous encaustic medium.
Students learn basic encaustic skills: Fusing/heating, layering, embedding 3D objects, incising
Hands-on techniques: Using encaustic with collage, watercolor & other mixed media, working under, within and on top of the encaustic layers, mark-making & image transfer techniques
Student will leave the workshop with: Four finished projects, a comprehensive resource list, packet of written material and the confidence to move ahead in this very versatile and unique medium.
Instructor will provide all necessary materials. Please review the MATERIALS LIST for additional items that the student should bring to class.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Linda is an award winning artist who grew up in California’s Bay Area and is best known for her encaustic paintings completed over the last two decades. Her journey has taken her through many media, but her love for encaustic has remained. Encaustic is an ancient and luminous bee’s wax process. Nunes’ work is often non-objective, abstract or surreal and always has a touch of whimsy. Her work has been shown throughout California as well as Chicago, Santa Fe and Dallas.
